“Keeping Students First” is at the heart of her district leadership, and major decisions are measured by their ability to improve educational outcomes for one of the most diverse student bodies in the United States. Dr. Vasanne S. Tinsley serves as interim superintendent of the DeKalb County School District, managing the day-to-day operations of a diverse educational system with more than 94,000 students, 14,500 employees and a budget of $2.6 billion. The mission of DeKalb County High School is to challenge, empower, and inspire students to achieve their ultimate potential through academics, various clubs and organizations, and extra-curricular activities. During their visit, they learned about the implementation and functionality of DeKalb County's Oddyssey eFile, File & Serve System. The visitors represented five pilot counties in North Carolina moving toward statewide implementation of the Oddyssey File & Serve System. Visitors toured the Criminal and Civil departments in the Clerk's office, examined Public Access terminals, electronic Public Notice board, and also observed the digital media board during a pretrial hearing. The Alabama Cooperative Extension System operates as the primary outreach organization that ensures all people have access to information that improves their quality of life and economic well-being.
